Women’s Basketball Falls to Albion

The Millikin women's basketball team lost to Albion College 75-63 on December 19 at the Pre-Christmas Tournament hosted by Trine University in Angola, Indiana.
 
The Big Blue got off to a great start with a strong first quarter to take a 26-15 advantage. Millikin shot 59 percent (10-17) from the field and made 6-9 three-pointers. Senior Kyleigh Block dominated the quarter scoring 16 points after making 4-6 from three-point range.
 
The Britons outscored Millikin by one in the second quarter, but the Big Blue maintained a 10-point advantage at 44-34 heading into the locker room at the half.
 
Albion controlled the second half going on a 17-7 run to start the third quarter tying the game at 51-51. Millikin led 55-53 at the end of the third quarter.
 
As hot as Millikin was in the first quarter it was that cold in the fourth quarter going scoreless for almost six minutes and shooting only 3-16 (19 percent) from the field.
 
Millikin shot 51 percent (25-61) from the field and made 13-26 (50 percent) from three-point range. Albion went 32-60 (54 percent) from the field and made 4-7 from three-point range. Millikin won the rebounding battle 37-33.
 
Block finished the game with a career high 22 points and eight rebounds.
Tatum Young, Emily White and Emily Brenneisen each scored nine. Nikkel Johnson had eight points and a career high 12 rebounds.
 
Meghan Trewhella led the Briton with 22 points followed by Brooklynn Torres with 17.
 
Millikin will face Trine on Friday at 12 p.m. ET
