The Big Blue defense forced 17 turnovers in the matchup, holding the Lynx offense to 35.7% shooting from the field. Trevor Lombard was the leading scorer for Rhodes with 14, and Kaleb Green added 13.

Millikin held a one point lead at the halftime break, up 28-27. They were down as many as nine in the second half after Rhodes went on a 10-0 run to make the score 35-44. The Big Blue were held scoreless for 5:33 in the second half during the run, ending on a made three pointer by Thomann with 8:17 remaining. Millikin battled back and took a 48-47 lead with 3:57 left to tick on a three by Welch.

As the lead teetered back and forth, a three point make by Straughter with 22 seconds left put the Big Blue up one, and a foul on Green of the Lynx sent Bond to the free throw line where he made one of two to take a two point lead at 54-52. But, a foul sent Lombard to the free throw line with four seconds left, and sinking both sent the game to overtime.

The Big Blue outscored Rhodes 13-5 in the overtime period, going on an 8-0 run and never looking back.
