Men's Basketball Falls at North Park

The Millikin men's basketball team traveled to Chicago, Ill. on Saturday, December 7 for their second College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin matchup of the 2024-25 season against North Park. In a close contest, the Big Blue fell 64-73.

The Big Blue held a one point advantage at the halftime break with a 30-29 lead. Millikin shot 51.9% from the field, going 4-for-10 from beyond the arc but 0-for-4 in the second half. 

Tionne Spates was the leading scorer with 14 points. Chase Travis and JT Welch each chipped in 11. Spates and Lane Thomann each nabbed six rebounds apiece in the loss. 

A balanced scoring attack from the Vikings saw Rico Powell as the leading scorer with 16 points. 

North Park quickly gained a seven point lead in the second half, with Powell and Tristan Arneaud making a pair of three pointers to tip the score in their favor in the first three minutes of the second half. Millikin chipped away, tying the game at 54-54 with 7:10 to go on an and-one by Travis. But, it took North Park a mere three minutes again to regain their seven point advantage and never looked back. 

The Big Blue will be back in action in a non-conference contest on Wednesday, December 11 when they meet the Fightin' Engineers of the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Ill. scheduled for a 7:00 PM tipoff.
