Millikin Women’s Basketball Scores CCIW Road Win

The Millikin women's basketball team scored a road College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) victory defeating North Park University 67-57 in Chicago.
 
After a 15-15 first quarter, Millikin got things going in the second quarter shooting 60 percent (9-15) from the field to outscore the Vikings 20-13. The Big Blue held North Park to 3-12 shooting to take a 35-28 halftime advantage. Millikin kept the offense going in the third quarter hitting 7-11 (64 percent) from the field to outscored North Park by six. Millikin led by as many as 18 in the third quarter after going on a 10-0 scoring run. The Big Blue lead was 53-40 at the end of three.
 
Millikin got a stellar collegiate debut from freshman Nikkel Johnson who scored 18 points and grabbed four rebounds. Johnson recently joined the basketball team after completing her season with the Millikin volleyball team. Johnson gave the Big Blue an inside scoring option hitting 7-8 from the field. Emily Brenneisen added 14 points followed by Emily White with 10 points and a team high 10 rebounds.
 
North Park Evelyn Abundes scored 23 points to led the Vikings.
 
Millikin shot 45 percent (25-56) from the field while the Vikings made 18-48 (37.5 percent). Millikin won the rebounding battle 38-25.
