Baseball Falls to #5 East Texas Baptist

The Millikin baseball team lost to fifth ranked East Texas Baptist University at the BSC Spring Classic in Birmingham, Alabama on Feb. 17.
 
Millikin jumped out to an early lead with one run in the first and three in the second. Andy Niebrugge had the RBI single in the first to get Millikin on the board. Tommy Shaw had a three-run home run in the second inning.
 
The Tigers scored a single runs in the fifth and seventh before tying the game in the eighth inning.
 
Millikin took the lead in the top of the ninth. Kelby Golladay had a one out double and pitch run Danny Lack scored on a single by Sam Bushur.
 
East Texas Baptist won it in the bottom of the ninth. Jacob Newland tied the game with a home run to open the inning. Jacob Evangelis hit a game winning home run to end the game.
 
Shaw had two hits for the Big Blue. Starter Landon Johnson allowed only three hits and one run in five innings of work.
 
Connor Massimini led the Tigers with three hits.
 
Millikin will play sixth ranked the University of Lynchburg on Sunday at 11 a.m.
