Millikin Baseball Wins Twice

The Millikin baseball team picked up two wins in games play at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas on February 24.
 
Millikin defeated Dominican University in the first game 12-6. The Big Blue broke open a 1-1 game with an eight run top of the seventh innings. The Stars answered with five runs in the bottom of the inning to make it a 9-6 game. Millikin added three insurance runs in the ninth.
 
In the seventh, Kyle Gibson started the scoring with a run scoring double. Sam Bushur and Ryan Janssen followed with RBI singles. Kameron Ross had a two-run double to make it a 6-1 game. Liam McGill had a bases loaded triple to make it 9-1 Big Blue.
 
Tommy Shaw, McGill, Gibson, Bushur, Kelby Golladay and Ross all had two hits for Millikin. Gibson had three RBI.
 
Caleb Buehrle was the winning pitcher throwing six innings allowing two hits, one earned run while striking out four.
 
Zachary Heiein had two hits for Dominican. Nikolas Krecu had two RBI.
 
In the nightcap, Millikin defeated the host Hendrix Warriors 4-3. The Big Blue posted two runs in the first inning. Shaw and McGill had back-to-back doubles to score the first run. Two batters later, Bushur drove in the final run of the inning with a double.
The Big Blue went up 4-0 in the third RBI going to Hayden Stork with a sacrifice fly and a run scoring single from Shaw.
 
Hendrix scored a single run in the fifth and two in the seventh, but the Big Blue held on for the win.
 
Andy Niebrugge led the Millikin attack with three hits. Griffin Neuweg was the winning pitcher in relief throwing two and one-third innings. Sean Shook picked up the save pitching the final two innings without allowing a hit.
 
Drake Job led Hendrix with two hits.
 
Millikin is now 2-3 on the season and will face Dominican on Sunday in Arkansas at 10 a.m.
