Millikin Baseball Falls in Extra Innings

The Millikin baseball team staged a late rally but fell in extra innings to Benedictine University 8-7 (11 innings) on March 17 at the Workman Baseball Field in Decatur, Illinois.
 
Home runs would be a key factor in the game for both teams. Benedictine opening the game with a first inning home run by Logan Gregorio. The Eagles would take a 6-0 advantage after four innings.
 
Millikin got on the scoreboard in the fifth on with a home run from Tyler Gade. Millikin rallied with sixth runs in the eighth inning to take a 7-6 lead. The big blow in the inning was a three run home run by Sam Bushur. Gade and Ryan Janssen had run scoring doubles and Kyle Gibson added an RBI single.
 
Benedictine then tied the game at 7-7 in the top of the ninth on a home run by George Betevis.
 
Millikin had game winning home runs stray just foul in both the ninth and 10th innings.
 
The Eagles then scored the game winner in the 11th on a home run by Justin Nonnenmann.
 
Gade finished with three hits for Millikin with Bushur and Kelby Golladay each collecting two hits.
 
Anthony Lenza had three hits for Benedictine.
 
Millikin falls to 7-8 while Benedictine improves to 11-1.
