Janssen Lifts Big Blue to Win over Hope

Millikin senior catcher had three hits and drove in six runs to help the Big Blue post an 11-8 win over Hope College on March 22 at the Workman Family Baseball Field in Decatur, Ill.
 
Trailing 2-1, Millikin rallied for four runs in the fifth inning with the big blow a three-run home run from Janssen to left center field. Liam McGill had an RBI double and Hayden Stork an RBI single in the inning.
 
Leading 7-4, Millikin broke open the game in the bottom of the sixth on a bases clearing triple from Janssen this time hitting the gap in right center field. Janssen would score Millikin's final run on a wild pitch.
 
Hope battled back adding a single run in the eighth and three more in the ninth.
 
Tyler Gade, Kyle Gibson, Tommy Shaw, McGill and Stork each had two hits for Millikin. Drew Sutton was the winning pitcher in relief throwing two and two-thirds innings allowing three hits and two earned runs. Caleb Buehrle pitched the first three innings allowing one hit and striking out three in a tune-up for conference action, which starts on Tuesday. Griffin Neuweg earned his first career save.
 
Brenden Collins had three hits to pace Hope. Al Money had two hits and a three RBI. Jace DeMann also had two hits in the game.
 
Millikin is now 8-8 while Hope falls to 5-8. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 12 p.m. at the Workman Family Baseball Field.
