The Big Blue softball team traveled to Bloomington, Ill. on Wednesday, April 10 for a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin doubleheader against the Titans of Illinois Wesleyan University. The Big Blue split, falling in game one 0-6 then winning game two 8-3.
In game one, Maddy Regan went 2-for-3 from the plate.
In game two, the Big Blue struck first as the home team on the scoreboard when Abby Willis scored on a passed ball. Then, Leah Foreman sent a three-run homerun over the fence, also plating Emma Lewandowski and Rylee Blake.
The Titans struck back with a three-run homerun of their own off the bat of Jen Kuhn.
A sacrifice fly off the bat of Lanie Chizmark in the fifth scored Charley Condill to pull the lead to 5-3. In the sixth, an infield single by Katlyn Schraeder scored Anna Enlow, then an Ava Zukowski double plated Emily Kobel and Chloe Book to tack on the final two of the Big Blue's eight runs.
Foreman went 2-for-2 at the plate in game two. Kelsey Bruno picked up the victory in the circle, striking out six and allowing only four hits.
Millikin will return to the Workman Family Softball Field on Saturday, April 13 for another CCIW doubleheader against the Thunder of Wheaton College.
