Big Blue Baseball Suffers Defeat

For the second straight game, North Park University used a ninth inning rally to defeated Millikin University 5-3 on April 14 in Chicago, Illinois.
 
Millikin held a 3-2 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth when the Vikings won the game on a walk-off two-run home run from Bobby Bartlett. Joe Perona started the Viking rally in the ninth with a leadoff triple and scored the tying run on a RBI single from Alex Divito.
 
Trailing 1-0 in the third, Millikin scored twice to take a 2-1 advantage. Andy Niebrugge started the inning with a double. After Niebrugge was sacrificed to third, Tyler Gade tied the game with a run scoring single. After a double steal by Gabe and Kyle Gibson, Millikin took the lead on a sacrifice fly by Tommy Shaw. After North Park tied the game in the fifth, Millikin took a 3-2 lead on an RBI single from Ryan Janssen.
 
Gibson had three hits to lead the attack with Gade and Niebrugge each collecting two.
 
Millikin won game one of the series on Saturday 5-1 before the Vikings rallied in the ninth inning of game two to win 4-3. Millikin is now 16-12, 7-3 while North Park improves to 19-8, 8-1.
