Softball Suffers First Sweep of Season at North Central

The Big Blue softball team traveled to Naperville, Ill. on Saturday, April 20 for a doubleheader against the Cardinals of North Central College. Millikin suffered their first sweep of the season, falling 0-3 in game one and 2-3 in game two as the home team.

In game one, Hailey Morsovillo reached on an error to score Katie Del Re in the first inning. Then, North Central added two more runs in the fifth when a Sarah Lynch single scored Bailey Miller and Talia Torosian reaching on a fielder's choice scored Charlotte Toosley.

Leah Foreman and Emma Lewandowski each went 1-for-2 at the plate in a game where the Big Blue were held to just four hits. Charly Warlow pitched the full six, striking out three and allowing five hits.

In game two, North Central once again got on the board first when Del Re scored on a wild pitch. The Big Blue struck back in the bottom of the inning with a Foreman double that scored Lewandowski.

In the second inning, Katlyn Schraeder scored on a passed ball to give MU a 2-1 advantage. In the fifth Emma Friedlund's double scored pinch runner Ronnie Latka. North Central took the lead in the sixth on a bases loaded walk issued to Lauren Bowmar.

Foreman was 1-for-2 at the plate again and Lanie Chizmark was 1-for-1.

The Big Blue will turn around quickly, traveling for their second doubleheader of the weekend at Elmhurst University on Sunday, April 21.
