Big Blue Baseball Rallies to Sweep Weekend Series

The Millikin baseball team rallied to earn an 8-7 win over Carroll University on April 21 in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The victory gave Millikin a sweep of the three game weekend series.
 
Trailing 3-0, Millikin scored two runs in the fifth on a two-run double by Kyle Gibson.
 
Carroll answered to three in the bottom of the inning highlighted by a two-run triple by Lane Scott to go up 6-2.
 
Millikin tied the game in the top of the sixth on run scoring singles by Tyler Gade and Gibson and an RBI hit-by-pitch by Tommy Shaw. The Big Blue went up 8-6 in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Janssen and an RBI single by Sam Bushur.
 
Nick Angus homered in the bottom of the eighth to pull the Pioneers to 8-7.
 
Gibson was 2-2 with two walks and four RBI. Bushur and Hayden Stork each had two hits for Millikin.
 
Scott led the Pioneers attack with four hits and three RBI.
 
Drew Sutton was the winning pitcher for Millikin throwing the final three and one-third innings allowing two hits and one run.
 
Millikin is now 20-12, 10-3 and will host Augustana College on Tuesday, April 23 at 6 p.m.
