Millikin Baseball Downs Vikings

The Millikin baseball team defeated Augustana College 7-0 on April 23 at the Workman Family Baseball Field in Decatur, Illinois. The victory kept Millikin in first place tie in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) standings at 11-3. Millikin is 21-12 overall.
 
Tyler Gade led off the bottom of the first with a double and scored on a Kyle Gibson single to give the Big Blue a 1-0 advantage. Millikin added three runs in the third inning. Gade doubled home Kameron Ross. Ryan Janssen doubled home two more to make it 4-0. Andy Neibrugge drove in the final run of the inning on a sacrifice fly. Janssen would triple home a run in the seventh.
 
The top four hitters in the Millikin lineup Gabe, Gibson, Shaw and Janssen each had two hits.
 
Landon Johnson pitched a sparking game throwing eight innings allowing four hits with four strikeouts. Drew Sutton pitched a scoreless ninth inning.
 
Alex Simon had two of the Vikings five hits.
 
Millikin, Illinois Wesleyan and North Park are tied for the conference lead after all three posted wins on Tuesday. Millikin and the Titans will face off in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 27 at Millikin.
