Big Blue Baseball Downs Cardinals

The Millikin baseball team defeated North Central College 9-3 on April 9 at the Workman Family Baseball Field in Decatur, Illinois. Millikin improves to 15-10 overall and 6-1 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.
 
Millikin had 16 hits in the game scoring nine runs and leaving 11 runner on base. Millikin jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first with the Big Blue's first five batters getting a hit. Tyler Gade opened the inning with a triple. After a single from Kyle Gibson, Tommy Shaw drove home Gade with a single. Ryan Janssen and Sam Bushur followed with RBI singles to make it 3-0 Millikin.
 
Andy Niebrugge's run scoring single made it 4-0 Millikin in the third. The Big Blue added four more runs in the fourth on run scoring doubles from Shaw and Janssen and an RBI ground out from Hayden Stork. Niebrugge added an RBI single to make it 8-0. Shaw's RBI single in the seventh scored Millikin's final run.
 
Gibson, Shaw and Bushur all finished with three hits for Millikin.
 
Luke Lehnen had three of North Central's seven hits.
