Millikin Baseball Falls in Non-Conference Contest

The Millikin baseball team had its nine game winning streak snapped with an 11-7 loss to Webster University on May 2 at the Workman Family Baseball Field in Decatur, Illinois.
 
The with game tied 1-1 after two innings, Webster erupted for seven runs in the third inning to take control of the game. The Big Blue battled back scoring a single run in the third, two in the fifth, one in the sixth and two in the seventh to pull to within in one at 8-7 after seven innings. The Gorlocks answered with a run in the eighth and two in the ninth to secure the win.
 
Andy Neibrugge led the Millikin attack with two hits including a double and two RBI. Tyler Gade had two hits. Kyle Gibson, Sam Bushur Liam McGill, Hayden Stork and Danny Lack each had a hit and an RBI.
 
James Theodore had three hits and three RBI for Webster. Evan Evola had two hits including a home run and three RBI. Wes Cunningham earned the win for the Gorlocks.
 
Max Simpson had an effective outing out of the Millikin bullpen throwing four and one-third innings allowing only three hits and one run.
 
Millikin is now 25-13 while Webster improves to 20-17.
 
The Big Blue close out the regular season with a doubleheader against Wheaton College on Saturday, May 4 at home starting a 1 p.m. It Millikin wins both of its final games it would earn at least a share of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) regular season title. Millikin has secured a spot in the CCIW Tournament with a 15-3 record. North Park is 14-3 with three games remaining.
