Six Big Blue Softball Players Honored by CCIW as All-Conference

The Big Blue softball team wrapped up their regular season College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin play last weekend and head into this weekend's CCIW Tournament as the #4 seed. On Wednesday, May 8, the conference office announced the recipients of All-Conference honors. 

Millikin had six players earn recognition, with three on the First Team and three on the Second Team.

Graduate student catcher Leah Foreman (Riverton, Ill.) was named to the first team. Foreman hit .351 at the plate in CCIW play with four doubles and a homerun, tallying 14 RBI. She walked eight times and was hit by a pitch eight times to notch an on-base percentage of .547. Senior outfielder Emma Lewandowski (Crown Point, Ind.) was also named to the first team. Lewandowski led the team in batting average in conference play with .400, going 14-for-35 at the plate in CCIW play. The final recipient of first team honors was freshman Katlyn Schraeder (Yorkville, Ill). The freshman designated player hit .359 in conference play, hitting three doubles, scoring seven runs, and notching six RBI. 

Junior first baseman Maddy Regan (Frankfort, Ill.) was named to the second team. Regan hit .325 at the plate with three doubles and nine RBI. Second baseman Rylee Blake (Muscatine, Iowa) was also named to the second team. The leadoff hitter reached base with 12 walks, 12 hits, and stole 18 bases in CCIW play. The final honoree was pitcher Charly Warlow (Le Roy, Ill.) Warlow finished conference play with an ERA of 1.98, tossing two shutouts including a no-hitter against North Park last weekend, and striking out 22 batters while holding opponents to a batting average of .196.

The final honoree for the Big Blue was Taylor Young (Lockport, Ill.) as the RESPECT Award winner. The CCIW RESPECT award is presented at the conclusion of every sports season with each varsity program recognizing one student-athlete. RESPECT Award recipients have distinguished themselves as an integral member of the team, their institution and community by upholding the values of Responsibility, Enthusiasm, Service, Pride, Excellence, Collaboration and Trust. The RESPECT Award recognizes the intangible traits a student-athlete possesses that exemplify great character and encourages inclusiveness and a positive culture.
