Women's Swimming Downs Illinois College in Friday Night Meet

The Millikin swim teams headed north up Route 51 on Friday, January 17 for a dual meet against both conference rival Illinois Wesleyan and a familiar foe in Illinois College in Bloomington, Ill. The men fell in both matchups, outscored 67-128 by Illinois College and narrowly falling to IWU in a 77-90 contest. The women downed Illinois College 90-78, but could not overcome the Titans, falling 55-131.

The men's relay team of Jacob Bloom, Ridge Batchelor, Gavin Dobson, and Alex Tabuchi placed third in the 200 yard medley relay in a time of 1:56.72.

Msanaa Bosland placed third in the men's 200 yard freestyle race in his time of 1:55.54.

Barnes was the victor in the women's 50 yard freestyle, posting a time of 25.81 in the race. Dawsen Loafman took the win in the men's race, swimming a 22.30 to finish first.

Kendall Rossignol placed second in the women's 200 yard IM in a time of 2:32.41, while Batchelor placed third in the men's race.

Barnes picked up another individual victory in the 100 yard butterfly in a time of 1:03.16, and Yoanna Barajas placed third. Dobson was the third place finisher in the men's race.

Erin Powell swam a 1:01.06 in the 100 yard freestyle, good enough for a third place finish. Bosland was second in the men's race, swimming a 53.23.

Barnes was second in the 100 yard backstroke in 1:06.16, and Loafman earned another individual win in the men's race in 57.76.

Rossignol was third in the 500 yard freestyle in a time of 5:58.16. Tabuchi placed third in the men's race in a time of 5:45.81. Rossignol rebounded quickly to also place second in the 100 yard breaststroke, swimming a 1:17.47 in the race. Batchelor placed second in the men's race in a time of 1:08.69.

The men's relay team of Loafman, Bosland, Aaron Amaya, and Dobson rounded out the race with a second place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:33.68, placing second by less than a second.

The Big Blue swim teams will be back in action when they travel to Monmouth, Ill. for a dual meet matchup with Monmouth College on Friday, January 24 with the meet beginning at 12:00 PM.
