Millikin Women Fall to #2 Illinois Wesleyan

The Millikin women's basketball team lost to second ranked and undefeated Illinois Wesleyan University 81-60 on January 22 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois. The Titans improve to 17-0, 8-0 while Millikin falls to 5-12, 4-4.
 
Millikin kept the game close before the Titans went on a 19-0 scoring run to open the fourth quarter. Illinois Wesleyan led 21-16 at the end of the first quarter and 43-30 at halftime. The Big Blue outscored the Titans 19-17 in the third quarter.
 
Millikin shot 38 percent (20-53) from the field and went 8-20 (40 percent) from three-point range. Illinois Wesleyan shot t 52 percent (33-64) from the field and made 5-14 from beyond the arc.
 
Matayia Tellis led Millikin with 14 points, five rebounds and three steals. Bella Dudley added nine for Millikin followed by Kyleigh Block and Izzy Hay with eight each.
 
Mallory Powers led the Titans with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Lauren Huber added 19 points and eight board.
 
Millikin will host North Park on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 2 p.m. Millikin will be hosting Women's Basketball Alumni Day celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the 2005 National Championship Team and the 40th Anniversary of the 1985 team that finished third in the country.
