Millikin Women Defeat Vikings

The Millikin women's basketball team defeated North Park University 72-61 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois on January 25. The win gave the Big Blue a 5-4 record in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) play as they start the second round against league opponents.
 
Millikin celebrate Women's Basketball Alumni Day honoring the 20th Anniversary of the 2005 National Championship Team and the 40th Anniversary of the 1985 National Third Place Team.
 
On Lori Kerans Court, this year's version of the Big Blue led 15-12 at the end of the first quarter and 36-25 at halftime. Millikin led by as many as 20 points late in the third quarter before North Park mounted a comeback in the fourth quarter to cut into the deficit.
 
Millikin shot 46 percent (26-56) from the field and made 9-21 (43 percent) from three-point range. North Park mad 23-53 (44 percent) from the field and went 5-12 from beyond the arc.
 
Millikin got 14 points each from Matayia Tellis and Emily White. Emily Brenneisen had 10 points and a team high seven rebounds.
 
Caroline Long led North Park with 22 points follow by Aliyah Hershberger with 14.
 
Millikin is now 6-12, 5-4 while North Park falls to 3-15, 0-9.
