Millikin Women Fall to Carroll

The Millikin women's basketball team resumed play in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) losing to Carroll University 77-68 on January 4 in Decatur, Illinois.
 
The game was at 13-13 tie after one quarter. The game was tied at 17-17 early in the second quarter before Carrol went on a 6-0 run to pull away. The Pioneers would out score Millikin 17-7 to pull out to a 10 point advantage. Carroll led 37-28 at halftime. Millikin outscored the Pioneers 27-20 in the third quarter to pull to 57-55 after three quarters. Carroll put on a final push to start the fourth quarter going on a 13-4 run to take control of the game.
 
Millikin shot 39 percent (26-66) from the field and went 7-26 from three-point range. The Big Blue were 4-6 from beyond the arc in the third quarter fueling its comeback.
Carroll shot 45 percent (28-62) from the field including going 4-10 from three point range. The Pioneers won the rebounding battle 40-38.
 
Nikkel Johnson led Millikin with her first career double double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Emily Brenneisen added 14 points followed by Kyleigh Block with 13.
 
Olivia Rangel led Carroll with a game high 27 points and 12 rebounds. Natalie Gricius scored 20 points.
