The Millikin men's basketball team returned to action on Wednesday night, earning a hard-fought 55–50 victory over North Central at the Griswold Center in Decatur. With the win, the Big Blue move to 7–1, securing their best start to a season since the 2008–09 team opened 8–0.
Millikin relied on steady defensive pressure throughout the night, holding North Central to 37.3% shooting from the field and limiting the Cardinals to just 24 second-half points. The Big Blue led for over eight minutes of game time, using timely scoring and strong rebounding to regain control in the second half.
McGrady Noyes paced Millikin with 14 points, while adding five rebounds. Nate Straughter contributed 13 points and two assists, and Ian Winkler tallied 6 points, three assists, and three rebounds.
Lane Thomann added 11 points and three rebounds. Millikin finished with a 36–33 rebounding advantage.
Millikin shot 30.4% from beyond the arc and 84.2% at the free-throw line.
With the win, the Big Blue continue one of their strongest opening stretches. Millikin will travel to Chicago for their next game on December 6, when they face North Park in CCIW action.
