Millikin Women’s Basketball Loses at Wheaton

The Millikin women's basketball team lost its final regular season road game falling at Wheaton College 64-53 on February 19 in Wheaton, Illinois.
The loss gives the Thunder the fourth spot in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) standings dropping the Big Blue to fifth place. Millikin closes out the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 22 hosting
Carthage College at 2 p.m.
 
Millikin got off to a slow start in the first quarter making only 2-11 from the field. The Big Blue trailed 23-9 at the end of the quarter. Millikin got things rolling in the second quarter outscoring Wheaton 14-11 at trail 34-23 at halftime. The Big Blue outscored Wheaton by four in the third quarter to cut the lead to 46-39.
 
Kyleigh Block pulled Millikin to 47-41 with nine minutes left in the game.
Wheaton then went on an 8-0 run to push the lead back to 14. Millikin made one more run in the final three minutes pulling to within six (59-53) on a Matayia Tellis basket. Kate Oliver answered for Wheaton to start the Thunder's final run to secure the victory.
 
Emily Brenneisen led Millikin with 17 points. Block and Nikkel Johnson each had 10. 
 
Oliver led Wheaton with 24 points.
 
The Thunder shot 25-55 (45.5 percent) from the field while Millikin made 20-60 (33 percent).
