Softball Drops Season Opening Doubleheader against Greenville

The Big Blue softball team opened up their 2025 season at the Workman Family Softball Field on Friday, February 28 with a doubleheader against the Panthers of Greenville University. Greenville, a team who returned a majority of their lineup who made the 2024 NCAA Tournament, downed the Big Blue in both games. 

In game one, Millikin got on the board first with a Kendallyn Davison single to right that scored pinch runner Brianna Denault in the second inning. They'd tack on another in the third when Charley Condill scored on an Ann Marie Meek double. 

In the fourth, an Anna Enlow double scored pinch runner Abbey Matthews, then an Abby Willis double scored Enlow to put the Big Blue up 4-0.

But, Greenville answered with three runs in the sixth, then a grand slam off the bat of Natalee Moore in the top of the seventh gave the Panthers a 4-7 advantage, and the Big Blue could not scratch a run across in the bottom of the inning.

Ava Zukowski went 2-for-4 from the plate, and Willis was 2-for-3. 

In game two, the Big Blue got on the board first in the first inning with a sacrifice bunt by Emily Kobel that scored Charley Condill

Greenville evened the score in the third, then scored another on a Moore RBI .

The Big Blue pulled ahead on an Enlow single that scored Meek and Condill, then an Emma Longcor home run in the fifth tied things at 3-3. Greenville posted a seven run sixth inning then tacked on three more in the seventh to defeat the Big Blue 5-13 in game two.

Condill went 2-for-4 from the plate, and Lauren Argo was 2-for-3 from the plate with two RBI. .
