Millikin Women Down Vikings

The Millikin women's basketball team defeated Augustana College 59-51 on February 8 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois. The win improves Millikin to 7-5 in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) play with a 7-5 record. The Big Blue currently in fourth place in the conference standings.
 
The game was a low scoring contest throughout with Millikin leading 10-6 at the end of the first quarter. The teams got things going in the second quarter with the Big Blue holding a 35-23 advantage at halftime. Augustana fought its way back the third quarter outscoring Millikin 15-11, but the teams played even at 13-13 in the final quarter sealing the Big Blue win.
 
Millikin shot 41 percent (21-51) from the field and went 7-16 (44 percent) from three-point range. Augustana shot 19-55 (34.5 percent) from the field and went 2-14 from three-point range. Augustana won the rebounding battle 44-27.
 
Emily White lead Millikin with 15 points, four rebounds and four assists. Emily Brenneisen and Nikkel Johnson each added 11 points. Matayia Tellis had nine points, six assists, four steals and four rebounds.
 
Audrey Erickson led the Vikings with 16 points and eight rebounds. Paige Melton added 11 points and seven rebounds.
 
Millikin is now 8-13, 7-5 while Augustana falls to 9-13, 5-8.
