Millikin Baseball Splits Doubleheader

The Millikin baseball team spilt a home doubleheader against Cornell College on March 14 at the Workman Family Baseball Field in Decatur, Illinois. Cornell won game one 7-4 while Millikin rallied to win game two 11-6.
 
Cornell used a four run fifth inning to take the lead. After Millikin tied the game in the bottom of the seventh, the Rams pulled away with a three-run eighth inning.
 
Freshman Julian Cabanin led Millikin going 3-4. Kolby Koslofski had two hits including a two-run double. Liam McGill and Tyler Gade also had two hits in the game for the Big Blue.
 
Kale Rose and Cade Parks each had three hits including a double for Cornell.
 
In game two, Millikin jumped out a 4-1 lead after two innings. Millikin made it 6-1 after five and 8-1 after seven. Cornell rallied with a five run eighth inning to make it an 8-6 game before Millikin sealed the win with three run eighth.
 
Koslofski had three RBI in game two including another two-run double. Danny Lack had two hits and scored three runs. Andy and Joey Niebrugge each had two hits along with Elliot Fulscher. Hayden Stork had two RBI.
 
Freshman Caleb Akins was the winning pitcher throwing seven innings allowing nine hits but only one earned run. Will Simpson threw two scoreless innings in relief for the Big Blue.
 
Vince Zipperer and Sean Alvarez each had three hits for Cornell.
 
Millikin is now 7-6 while Cornell goes to 4-6.
