Big Blue Baseball Splits in Busy Weekend

The Millikin baseball team wrapped up a busy weekend at the Workman Family Baseball Field in Decatur that saw four teams place seven games over three days. The Big Blue split its four games on the weekend including splitting a pair on March 16.
 
After a warm and windy start to the weekend, Sunday's games were played in frigid temperatures. In game one on Sunday Millikin defeated Hanover College 6-3. All of game's runs scored in the fourth inning.
 
Hanover scored three runs in the top of the fourth thanks to back-to-back Millikin errors and two walks. Josh Simpson had an RBI single for the Panthers.
 
The Big Blue answered with six runs in the bottom of the inning. Eliot Fulscher's run scoring single tied the game at 3-3. Julian Cabanin drove home the go-ahead run with a base hit. Tyler Gade then doubled home the final two runs of the inning. Gade had two hits in the inning for Millikin.
 
Alec Mallinder was the winning pitcher for Millikin in relief throwing three innings allowing only one hit with five strikeouts. Millikin held Hanover to just two hits with starter Jack Harris going four innings allowing one hit and three runs all unearned with striking out six. Nolan Reiman picked up the save throwing the final two innings without allowing a hit.
 
Wyatt Colvin threw four strong innings in relief for Hanover allowing only one hit.
 
In game two on Sunday, Millikin lost to Benedictine University 10-6. The Eagles lead 4-0 after two innings. Millikin tied the game with a four run fifth and went up 6-4 in the bottom of the sixth. Benedictine tied the game in the eighth and scored four in the ninth to secure the win.
 
Gade and Kolby Koslofski each had two hits and two RBI to lead the Big Blue. Liam McGill had two hits and scored two runs.
 
Brennen Fisher had four hits and three RBI to lead the Eagles. Frank Magnelli had three hits. Zach Fell and Justin Nonnenman each two RBI for Benedictine.
 
Millikin is now 8-7 on the season.
