Millikin Wrestling Earns Academic Honors

DECATUR, Illinois—The Millikin wrestling team was honored for its performance in the classroom earning a National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) 2025 NCAA Division III Team Scholar All-America Award.
 
Millikin was in the groups top 20 academic performing teams ranking 19th in NCAA Division III with a 3.56 team grade point average.
 
Millikin had five wrestlers earned 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Scholar All-American Awards. These outstanding student-athletes have demonstrated excellence both on the mat and in the classroom, meeting one of the following academic and athletic criteria:
Must accomplish at least 1 of the 2
WRESTLING -
Place in top eight in the regional tournament
Wrestle at least 15 matches and have a win percentage greater than 66 percent
ACADEMICS - Must accomplish at least 1 of the 2
Must have an average GPA of 3.2 over the last two semesters
Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2
 
Millikin's honorees were senior Cybersecurity major Cameron Lee (Decatur, MacArthur H.S.), junior Sport & Rec. Management major Sabri Sino (Franklin, Wis., William Penn University), junior Environmental Studies major Chase Mirelez (Patterson, Calif., Modesto CC), senior Physical Education major Benicio Martinez (Orland, Calif., Sacramento City College), and junior Social Science (Secondary Education) major Joey Jens (Grayslake)
 
"The NWCA is proud to honor these outstanding individuals who demonstrate excellence on the mat and in the classroom as well," said NWCA Executive Director Mike Moyer.
