Big Blue Baseball Drops Conference Opening Doubleheader

The Millikin baseball team lost its College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) opening doubleheader to Carroll University on a rainy March 29 at the Workman Family Baseball Field in Decatur, Illinois. Carroll won game one 8-6 and took game two in 10 inning by the same score.
 
Carroll jumped out to 5-2 lead after three innings in game one and then held off a late Millikin rally to win 8-6. The Big Blue trailed 8-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh before scoring three runs to pull two within two runs.
 
Elliot Fulscher and Liam McGill led the Millikin attack each collecting three hits. Fulscher had and RBI. Sam Bushur had two hits including a triple and drove in one.
 
Jimmy Williams and Brody Ferko had three hits to pace Carroll. Ferko drove in two.
 
In game two, Millikin took a 2-1 lead in the first on a two-run home run from Tyler Gade.
 
The game was tied 4-4 after seven innings. Big Blue freshman Ty Cribbett doubled home Kam Ross for his first career RBI to give Millikin a 5-4 lead. Fulscher made it a 6-4 lead with a run scoring single.
 
Carroll tied the game in the ninth on a run scoring double from Williams and a Big Blue passed ball. Pitch hitter Anthony Tado had a two runs single in the 10th to give the Pioneers the victory.
 
Fulscher continued his hot hitting for Millikin with three hits including a triple. Gade and Busher had three hits with two RBI each.
 
Dalen Lamberson had three hits and two RBI for Carroll.
 
Millikin falls to 10-10, 0-2 while Carroll goes to 11-8, 2-1.
 
Millikin's game against North Park originally scheduled for Sunday has been posted to Monday, March 31 at 7 p.m.
