The Millikin softball team traveled to Jacksonville, Ill. on Saturday, March 29 for their second doubleheader of the weekend. After picking up a sweep of Webster on Friday, the Big Blue wrapped up a 4-0 weekend with a sweep of Illinois College in the twin bill.
In game one, the Big Blue got on the board first in the top of the third, with Emily Kobel scoring on an RBI single from Abby Willis. Then, with Willis and Charley Condill aboard, Anna Enlow hit her second home run of the weekend to bring three more runs across the plate.
In the sixth, an RBI groundout from Bella Palermo plated Kendallyn Davison to give Millikin a 5-0 lead over the Lady Blues.
In the seventh, the Big Blue tacked on two more insurance runs when Condill scored on a single by Kailyn Coates, then Enlow was brought home on a single by Davison.
The Lady Blues added a pair of their own in the bottom of the seventh, but the Big Blue took game one 7-2.
In game one, Davison was 3-for-4 from the plate and Willis was 2-for-4.
Kelsey Bruno earned her fifth straight win in the circle, striking out nine and allowing just four hits in the complete game victory.
Game two saw the Big Blue earn a comeback victory in a 6-4 game. Illinois College scored three runs in the second inning to take an early lead.
The Big Blue chipped away at the deficit in the fourth, with Kobel bringing Palermo home with a single.
The Lady Blues had an answer with a run of their own in the fourth.
Millikin chipped away again in the sixth with an RBI groundout off the bat of Ava Zukowski that scored Palermo.
Down to their last three outs, the Big Blue delivered in the top of the seventh. A walk with the bases loaded issued to Palermo scored Enlow, then Coates reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Summer Wynn to take their first lead of the game. Zukowski sent a sacrifice fly to left field to plate another run in Palermo.
The Big Blue held their own in the bottom of the inning, securing a 6-4 victory.
Enlow was 2-for-3 at the plate, and Willis and Kobel each went 2-for-4.
Abby Wilken entered the game in relief, allowing two hits and striking out one in 3.2 innings pitched. Alyssa Dralle closed out the game, allowing no hits in 1.2 innings pitched, striking out two.
The Big Blue will head into conference play on Sunday, April 6 when the Vikings of Augustana travel to the Workman Family Softball Field.
