Millikin Men's Golf Holds Their Own at Nationally-Ranked Cochran Collegiate

The Millikin men's golf team delivered a strong showing at the Second Annual Cochran Collegiate Classic hosted by Rhodes College, played April 14–15, 2025 at the historic Colonial Country Club in Memphis, Tennessee. Battling a demanding course and windy conditions, the Big Blue rose to the challenge in a field stacked with nationally ranked NCAA Division III programs.

Millikin opened the tournament with rounds of 304 and 309 on day one, placing them in an impressive sixth place after 36 holes. Despite a tough final round of 317, the team held on to finish tenth out of 18 teams—an improvement from last year's showing and a promising sign of growth.

Junior Jack Bollinger led the way for Millikin, posting rounds of 77-75-75 to finish 9th overall in the individual standings. Graduate student Virgile Gruny also had a strong performance, firing an even-par 72 in the opening round—tied for the second-best score of the round—before finishing 20th individually with scores of 72-80-78.

Oglethorpe, the ninth ranked squad in the nation, took the team title with a total score of 899 through the three-round tournament. Fellow CCIW foe, fourth ranked Illinois Wesleyan, placed fourth.
