Softball Falls to Titans in CCIW Tournament

The Millikin softball team lost to the top seed Illinois Wesleyan 13-3 in sixth innings in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Tournament being played on May 9 at the Titans home field in Bloomington, Illinois.
 
Millikin now plays second seeded Augustana College at 6 p.m. The Big Blue defeated the Vikings on Thursday 8-4.
 
Illinois Wesleyan's power was on display in the game. Ava Khoury got the Titans on the board in the second with a long home run to left center. Casey Wissmiller and Claire Post both doubled in the inning for the Titans second run. Jen Kuhn homer to centerfield in the third to make it a 3-0 Titan advantage. Wissmiller hit a home run in the fourth inning to add to the Illinois Wesleyan lead.
 
Millikin answered in the fourth with its own power surge with Anna Enlow hitting a solo home run to right field to make it a 4-1 game. Summer Wynn followed with a double.
KJ Davison added an infield single and Bella Palermo walked to load the bases. With two outs in the inning, Ava Zukowski lined a double to left field scoring two to make it one run game at 4-3. Enlow as 3-3 in the game for the Big Blue.
 
Illinois Wesleyan answer in the fifth. Kuhn doubled home a run and sacrifice flies from Anna Beckman and Khoury pushed the Titan lead back out to four runs at 7-3.
 
The Titans scored six runs in the sixth highlighted by a three-run homer from Bella Pinter and Khory's second home run of the game.
