The No. 12 Millikin volleyball team opened its 2025 season on August 29 at the Trinity University Invitational in San Antonio, Texas, taking on two nationally ranked opponents. The Big Blue fell to No. 23 NYU in four sets before dropping a straight-set match to host No. 10 Trinity (TX).
Millikin's opener against NYU was tightly contested, with the Big Blue taking the first set before the Violets pulled away late for a 3–1 win (25-19, 25-27, 22-25, 19-25). Addison Oyer and Kyra Carothers provided a steady presence on the attack, while libero Kylie Ramirez led the defensive effort with 17 digs. Millikin was strong at the net, recording eight blocks, and served aggressively with eight aces. After evening the match with a 27-25 second-set victory, Millikin stayed close in sets three and four but could not overcome NYU's late runs.
In the evening match, Millikin faced a quick turnaround against No. 10 Trinity and fell 3–0 (21-25, 8-25, 21-25). Oyer again led the offense with 10 kills, and Ramirez collected 11 digs to go with Charley Condill's 11 digs and two blocks. The Big Blue pushed Trinity in the opening and closing sets but were slowed in the second by the Tigers' offensive efficiency, as the hosts hit .312 in the frame.
Millikin (0–2) continues play at the Trinity Invitational on Saturday, August 30, with another ranked test against No. 13 UW–Platteville.
