The Millikin University women's soccer team opened their 2025 home campaign in dominant fashion, securing a 4-0 victory over Knox College on August 29 at Frank M. Lindsay Field. The Big Blue set the tone early and never looked back, controlling possession and creating consistent offensive pressure throughout the match. 

Millikin struck first in the 6th minute when Melis Barutcu netted her first goal of the season, assisted by Addison Weed. The Big Blue doubled their lead midway through the first half when persistent pressure led to an own goal by Knox, putting Millikin up 2-0. 

Just before halftime, the Big Blue extended their advantage as Elly Hermanson scored her first goal of the year in the 37th minute, assisted by Payton Dominguez. Giving Millikin a comfortable 3-0 cushion heading into the break. 

Millikin's strong play continued into the second half. In the 76th minute, Alanna Smith capped off the scoring with her first goal of the season, securing the 4-0 shutout victory for the Big Blue. 

The defensive unit was equally impressive, limiting Knox's opportunities and helping Millikin record its first clean sheet of the year. 

With the win, Millikin improves to 1-0 at home and builds momentum early in the season. The Big Blue will return to action tomorrow, August 30, when they host Simpson College at Frank M.
