The Millikin men's basketball team came up just short on Saturday night, falling 77–76 to Augustana College in a tightly contested CCIW matchup. The loss moves the Big Blue to 10–3 overall and 2–2 in conference play.
The game featured constant momentum swings, with 16 lead changes throughout the night. Millikin trailed 38–37 at halftime and continued to battle throughout the second half. Augustana used a late second-half push to take a narrow lead, and Millikin's final possession came up empty as the Vikings escaped with the one-point victory.
Lane Thomann delivered a dominant performance, finishing with a game-high 34 points and 13 rebounds while knocking down five three-pointers. Chris Ketchum added 15 points and six rebounds, and Kobe Anderson contributed seven points and four assists.
Millikin finished the game shooting 41.5% from the field and 28.6% from beyond the arc, while winning the rebounding battle 40–29 and scoring 18 second-chance points. Despite the narrow setback, the Big Blue showed resilience in a back-and-forth conference battle.
Millikin will look to bounce back on Wednesday, January 7, when they travel to Elmhurst for another CCIW matchup.
