DECATUR, Ill. — The Millikin men's basketball team fell to Elmhurst College 80–72 at the Griswold P.E. Center, moving to 13–7 overall and 5–6 in CCIW play.
Elmhurst built momentum late in the first half and carried a 33–31 lead into the break before extending its advantage in the second half. The Big Blue stayed within striking distance throughout, trimming the deficit to single digits multiple times, but were unable to overcome Elmhurst's shooting efficiency down the stretch.
Chris Ketchum and Lane Thomann led Millikin with 17 points a piece. Nate Straughter finished with 15 points and two steals.
Millikin shot 40.3% from the field and connected on 8-of-19 attempts from three-point range. The Big Blue also went 14-for-18 from the free-throw line.
Millikin returns to action next week as CCIW competition continues on February 4th.
