Men's Basketball Falls to Carroll in Final Home Game of 2025-26

The Millikin men's basketball team took the floor at the Griswold Center for the final time of the 2025-26 season on Saturday, February 14 against Carroll. In pregame, the Big Blue honored their four seniors, Jacob Bullock, Glenn Powers, Tionne Spates, and Nate Straughter for their contributions to the men's basketball program.

After falling behind by as many as eight early, the Big Blue used back-to-back threes from Lane Thomann to bring the score to 12-14, then tied it at 14 apiece on a jumper by Straughter. They led by six at the end of the quarter on five straight points by Pat Origliasso, three from behind the arc and two from the charity stripe.

After heading into the locker room with a 37-31 advantage, the Pioneers went on a 17-0 run to start the second half, with the Big Blue scoreless for the first seven minutes of the second half. They broke the drought on a layup by Origliasso with 13 minutes remaining to cut the deficit to 39-48.

Millikin chipped away at the second half deficit, cutting the lead to six points at 64-70 with just over a minute left to tick on a three pointer by Chris Ketchum, but the Big Blue fell 68-76.

Thomann led the squad in scoring with 26 points on 10-for-18 shooting. Straughter added 14 points, and Spates was the leading rebounder with seven.

The Big Blue shot 41.1% from the field on 23-for-56 shooting.

Carroll was led by Michael McNabb with 24 points and 19 points from Lamar Smith. The Pioneers shot 48.1% from the field.

The Big Blue will finish out their 2025-26 campaign on the road at Wheaton College on Saturday, February 21 with tipoff set for 7:00 PM.
