Tonight the Big Blue faced Augustana and won with a Leyton Ivers walk off 5-4
Joey Ross started on the mound for the Big Blue going four innings and having three strike outs, five hits, and two runs.
Augustana got on the scoreboard in the first inning, scoring two runs.
Millikin quickly responded, rallying for three runs to take a 3–2 lead in the first. Carder Reich delivered a single to center field, driving in Leyton Ivers. Later in the inning, Mick Niebrugge gave Millikin the lead with a single through the left side, scoring Reich and Pete Britton.
Gavin Houchins came in to pitch in the fifth inning going for four innings having two runs, six hits, and three strikeouts.
In the seventh inning, Augustana tied up the game and tried to take the lead but Leyton Ivers prevented the leading run from scoring, fielding a ground ball from centerfield and throwing out the runner at home plate.
In the bottom of the seventh Niebrugge got hit for the second time in the game, Gage Reynolds found the 5-6 hole, and Anderson Decker walked putting Niebrugge in scoring position. Britton up to bat a wild pitch came and Niebrugge showed off his sliding athleticism and got the score 4-3.
In the eighth inning, the Vikings tied the game but the Big Blue responded with strong defense to keep it even. On a scoring attempt, a 3–2–5 play combined with Decker's speed caught the runner in a pickle for the out. Britton then blocked a hard hit ball to keep it from getting through, ending the inning.
Nolan Rieman came into pitch in the ninth facing three batters and striking out one.
Easton Steck put pressure on the defense with a hard hit ball to third that forced an error, and Decker followed with a walk to keep the rally alive. Then Leyton Ivers delivered in the clutch, lining a walk-off hit to left field to score Steck and seal the win.
Pete Britton, Ty Cribbett, Carder Reich, Mick Niebrugge, Gage Reynolds all collected a hit each.
Leyton Ivers collected two hits.
The offensive leader of the game was Mick Niebrugge as he went 1-2, two RBI's 1-1and Leyton Ivers as he went 2-5 with a walk off to secure the win.
The Big Blue will hit the road and face Elmhurst on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
