Millikin Falls in NCAA Tournament Opener

The Millikin University baseball team lost its first game in the 2026 NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament Decatur, IL Regional falling 7-2 to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on May 15 at the Workman Family Baseball Field in Decatur, Illinois.
 
Things got off to a great start for Millikin, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning on a two-run single from freshman Mick Niebrugge.
 
The Eagles scored a single run in the fourth inning and took the lead in the fifth on a two-run single from AJ Levy. Wisconsin-La Crosse added to its lead with a two-run home run by Emiliano Ramos in the sixth.
 
Niebrugge and Leyton Ivers had two hits for Millikin.
 
Leadoff hitter Chris Caliclo lead the way for La Crosse going 3-5 with a double and a triple. He scored twice and drove in one run. Ramos and Levy each had two hits.
 
Owen Deprez was the winning pitcher throwing seven innings allowing five hits and two runs.
 
Millikin will now face Wartburg College in an elimination game on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Wisconsin-La Crosse advances to face Baldwin Wallce at 2:30 p.m.
 
Baldwin Wallace defeated Wartburg 9-3.
