In game three of the CCIW tournament Millikin faced the Carthage Fire Birds winning 5-3.
Making his thirteenth start on the mound this season was Caleb Akins pitching nine innings allowing six hits, three runs, one walk, and ten strikeouts.
The Fire Birds got the scoreboard started in the top of the second scoring 3 runs.
In the bottom of the second with bases loaded Gage Reynolds plated Kolby Koslofski and Sam Bushur off a line drive to right field making the score 2-3.
In the third inning Pete Britton walked, and Ty Cribbett hit a line drive. Carder Reich then laid down a bunt single down the left side to load the bases. Koslofski followed with a sacrifice fly that scored Britton and tied the game at 3-3.
The fourth inning started with a leadoff walk by Reynolds, who was moved over by an Anderson Decker sacrifice bunt. Leyton Ivers then hit a line drive into the right center gap to score Reynolds. Ivers later scored on a Cribbett single through the right side. Allowing Millikin to take the lead 5-3.
Gage Reynolds, Mick Niebrugge, and Anderson Decker all collected one hit each. Leyton Ivers, Carder Reich, and Ty Cribbett all collected two hits each.
The offensive leader of the game was Gage Reynolds going 1-2 with two RBI's.
The Big Blue will play tomorrow at 2 p.m.
