Decatur, IL – The Millikin women's tennis team opened their College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) schedule with a home match against North Central College. The Big Blue fell to the Cardinals, 4-3.
In doubles play, the #1 pairing of
Rachel Combs and
Braxtyn Madison fell 6-4. At #2, the duo of
Maria Katalina Gomez Jerez and
Bella Griffiths won, 7-5. The Big Blue would secure the doubles point with a victory from
Addi Ross and
Sarah Parsons winning, 6-4.
In singles play,
Rachel Combs fell in the #1 singles 6-1, 6-0.
Bella Griffiths was defeated 6-1, 6-1. At #3,
Maria Katalina Gomez Jerez would lose a hard-fought battle 7-5, 7-5.
Braxtyn Madison lost 6-0, 6-3 in the #4 singles.
Addi Ross would get the Big Blue back in the win column in #5 singles, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.
Sarah Parsons would win the #6 singles by a score of 6-4, 6-4.
The Big Blue women's tennis will be in action tomorrow Sunday, Sept 13 with Augustana College (IL) visiting the 217.
