Decatur, IL – The Big Blue women's tennis team had their second match of the weekend today welcoming CCIW opponent Augustana College (IL) to Decatur. The Big Blue were swept by the Vikings, 7-0.
Millikin would lose the doubles point, being swept in doubles play by Augustana. The duo of
Rachel Combs and
Braxtyn Madison fell 6-2 in the #1 singles. #2 singles saw
Maria Katalina Gomez Jerez and
Bella Griffiths swept, 6-0.
Addi Ross and
Sarah Parsons would fight to end but ultimately defeated, 7-5.
In singles play,
Rachel Combs would take things the distance in #1 singles but would ultimately lose 2-6, 7-5, 0-1. In #2 singles,
Bella Griffiths lost 6-3, 6-0.
Maria Katalina Gomez Jerez would start off by winning the first set of #3 singles 6-1, but would lose the remaining sets 1-6, 0-1. At #4,
Braxtyn Madison fell 6-3, 6-2.
Addi Ross would play one round in the #5 singles losing 6-1 before retiring the match.
Sarah Parsons would lose the #6 singles by a score of 6-2, 6-0.
Millikin's women's tennis team will rest for a few days before traveling to Bloomington, Illinois for an intra-conference matchup versus Illinois Wesleyan University on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 4:00 pm.
