Decatur, IL – The heat did not want to back down but neither did the Millikin University Tennis teams on Tuesday evening, taking on Illinois College. The men's team claimed a 7-0 sweep, while the women pulled out a 4-3 victory.
Millikin 7, Illinois College 0
On the men's side, doubles play would go to the Big Blue. The #1 duo of
Elliott Taylor &
Blake Robertson would start things off with a 7-5 win.
Matthew Kordesh and Colin Klien would keep things rolling in the #2 doubles winning 6-1.
Maxime Moreau and
Nicolas Siqueira picked up the third win in doubles play with a 6-1 score.
In singles play, #1
Colin Klein picked up a win 6-1,6-1. #2
Blake Robertson swept his opposition 6-0, 6-0, and Elliot Taylor won 6-1, 6-4 at #3. At #4,
Maxime Moreau was victorious 6-0, 6-3. Our second sweep in single play comes from
Matthew Kordesh at #5, with a score of 6-0, 6-0. Match #6 found
Nicolas Siqueira in the win column at 6-0, 6-1.

For the women, the Big Blue would claim the doubles point. The #1 pairing of
Rachel Combs and
Braxtyn Madison won 6-1. The #2 duo of
Maria Katalina Gomez Jerez and
Bella Griffiths fell 6-2. The Big Blue would bounce back in #3 doubles with
Addi Ross and
Sarah Parsons winning 6-4.

Rachel Combs take things the distance in the #1 match with a score of 2-6, 6-4, 11-9.
Bella Griffiths fell in the #2 singles 6-3, 6-2. At #3,
Braxtyn Madison lost 6-2, 6-4. Marira Kataline Gomez Jerez lost 6-2, 6-1.
Addi Ross would get the Big Blue back in the win column in #5 singles, 6-4, 6-1.
Sarah Parsons would clinch victory for the Big Blue winning 0-6, 6-4, 11-9.
The Big Blue women's tennis team will be in action on Saturday, Sept 5 with matches against Loras College and Monmouth College. The men's team will next see action when eight members of the team will participate in the CCIW Tournament on Friday, Sept 11 in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
