Decatur, IL – Millikin University women's soccer hosted the Fightin' Engineers of Rose-Hulman at Frank M. Lindsay Field for their home opener. The Big Blue take defeat in a physical matchup, 2-1.
The Fightin' Engineers struck early with a goal at the 13-minute mark. Junior captain Addison Weed took charge and set herself up for a tough goal to tie it up 1-1 several minutes later, 20 minutes into the first half.
Rose-Hulman responded with another goal at the 25-minute mark, putting them up 2-1 in the first half. Followed by lots of physicality, no team was able to strike any more goals.
Sophomore Jessica Bearley had a great performance, making two incredible saves to keep the Fightin' Engineers from pulling far away.
The Big Blue showed a real fight against Rose-Hulman, creating an opportunity to learn and grow through the early period of the season.
Women's soccer faces the Webster University Gorlocks on Wednesday, September 9 under the lights at Frank M. Lindsay Field, with kickoff set for 7 PM, also on the CCIW Network.
