Monmouth, IL – Millikin University women's tennis was in action on Saturday, taking on Loras College and Monmouth College. The Big Blue split the day losing to Loras College and defeating Monmouth College.
Loras 4, Millikin 3
In doubles play, Loras would take the point. The Big Blue would start off with a victory in the #1 doubles with
Rachel Combs &
Braxtyn Madison taking the win 6-3. At #2, Bellas Griffiths and
Maria Katalina Gomez Jerez took it the distance but ultimately fell 7-5.
Sarah Parsons and
Addi Ross lost 6-2 in the #3 doubles.
In singles play, #1
Rachel Combs fell 6-4,7-5. #2
Bella Griffiths went down 6-1, before the match was retired. At #3,
Maria Katalina Gomez Jerez got the Big Blue back in the win column with a 6-4, 6-2 victory.
Braxtyn Madison kept the momentum going winning 6-1, 6-2. Contest #5 saw
Addi Ross win 6-1, 6-1.
Sarah Parsons lost 6-2, 6-3 at #6.
Millikin 4, Monmouth 3
In match two, Millikin would take the doubles point.
Rachel Combs and
Braxtyn Madison emerged victoriously in the #1 doubles match 6-4. Monmouth would strike back in #2 doubles with
Maria Katalina Gomez Jerez and
Bella Griffiths losing 7-5.
Addi Ross and
Sarah Parsons would earn the win in doubles #3, 6-1.
Singles play would see
Rachel Combs lose 6-0, 6-0 in the #1 singles. At #2,
Bella Griffiths fell 6-1, 6-3. The #3 match saw
Maria Katalina Gomez Jerez win 6-1, 6-2.
Braxtyn Madison was defeated 7-5, 6-2 in the #4 contest.
Addi Ross would take home the win in the #5 singles 6-0, 6-1, with
Sarah Parsons clinching victory with a score of 6-2, 6-3.
The Big Blue will return home to take on North Central in their first match of conference play on Saturday, September 12 at Noon.
