Big Blue Softball Drops Doubleheader

         The Millikin softball team dropped its final conference doubleheader of the season falling at Elmhurst College on April 26 in Elmhurst, Illinois.  The Bluejays won game one 2-1 and took the second game 4-3.
         Game one was a pitching battle with only nine hits in the game.  All of the game's runs were scored in the second inning.  Kirsten Iversen singled with one out and stole second.  She later scored on an Elmhurst error.  The Bluejays respond in the bottom of the inning with two runs.  Bekah Ondracek singled and scored on triple by Morganne Evans.  Evans would then score the game winner on a throwing error by the Big Blue.
         Cathy Lebryk pitched well for Millikin allowing only three hits and one earned run with no walks and three strikeouts.  Elmhurst's Stefanie Sanidas was the winning pitcher allowing six hits and no earned runs while striking out five.
         No player in game one had more than one hit in the game.
         Millikin jumped out a an early 2-0 lead in game two, but a four run Elmhurst fifth inning was the difference in the game.
         Millikin's Alyssa Visvardis was 2-4 with a double.  Lena Dyer was 2-3 with a run scoring double.  Lexi Dockins also had a run scoring double in the sixth inning for Millikin.  Alyssa Voegele had an RBI single.
         Stephanie Hintz led the Bluejays attack going 2-4 with a two run double.  Ondracek also doubled home two in the fifth inning.
         Millikin is now 14-20, 3-11 while Elmhurst improves to 18-16, 5-7.  Millikin will finish the season with three road doubleheaders this weekend starting April 29 at MacMurray College.
