Millikin Softball Sweeps Doubleheader

The Millikin softball team swept a doubleheader at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois on April 29.  The Big Blue won game one 1-0 and took the second game 7-1.
Game one was a pitchers duel between Millikin's Cathy Lebryk and MacMurray's Marissa Harris.  The Big Blue manged to manufacture a run in the sixth inning with Alyssa Visvardis scoring the game's only run on a fielders choice.
Harris limited Millikin to just one hit with Jordan Themer getting the Big Blue's only hit.  Lebryk got the win for the Big Blue allowing only three hits and no runs over seven innings while striking out five and walking just one.
Millikin used a four run fifth inning to take game two.  Visvardis had a two run double in the inning and Kirsten Iversen hit a two run home run.  Visvardis' double was her 41st career double setting a new career record.  Visvardis now has the Big Blue career mark for hits, doubles and home runs.
Brooke Heimrl was 3-4 with an RBI for Millikin.  Iversen went 2-4 at the plate.
Whitley Baker was the winning pitcher for Millikin and picked up a base hit and RBI.  Baker pitched seven innings allowing six hits and one earned run while striking out seven.
