DECATUR, Illinois—Starting this fall, play-by-play coverage of Millikin University football and basketball games are moving to the Decatur area's leader in local sports coverage ESPNDecatur 1050AM (WDZ).
ESPNDecatur 1050AM (WDZ) will be the radio home for all 10 Millikin football games and up to 20 Big Blue men's and women's basketball games. ESPNDecatur 1050AM (WDZ) Sports Director Aric Lee will be the play-by-play voice for the Big Blue broadcasts.  Lee was recently named the Illinois Broadcasting Association (IBA) Silver Dome Award winner for Best Radio Personality (Medium Market).  The Millikin broadcasts will be available on line at www.NowDecatur.com and the Now Decatur app.  The agreement extends Millikin Athletics partnership with WDZ, which currently carries the Big Blue Hour from 5-6 p.m. on Mondays featuring the latest news and interviews on Millikin Athletics teams.
"We are excited to extend our partnership with Neuhoff Media," said Millikin Director of Athletics Dr. Craig White.  "WDZ is the area's radio sports leader with its affiliation with ESPN, Aric Lee's outstanding high school sports coverage and its lineup of professional sports.  Adding the Big Blue games to ESPNDecatur 1050AM (WDZ) outstanding lineup will be very beneficial to Millikin Athletics."
"Our partnership means a great deal" says Neuhoff Media COO, Mike Hulvey "We are excited to have to opportunity to not only present Millikin athletics on ESPN 1050 and Nowdecatur.com but extend that partnership to on-campus activations, community events and educational experiences for students as well" added Hulvey. We see a long relationship between Millikin University and Neuhoff Media."
A pair of Millikin graduates will join Aric Lee for the Big Blue broadcasts.  Providing color commentary for the football broadcasts will be 1992 graduate and former Big Blue standout running back Tony McClain of Peoria.  McClain is the sixth all-time leading rusher in Millikin history with 2,698 yards.  Handling the color duties for basketball will be 1996 graduate and former Big Blue basketball player Jeremy Moore of Decatur.
"T-Mac & Jeremy have joined me for high school broadcasts for four seasons, and they are the perfect complement to our product," Lee said. "Their experience playing and coaching each game, make them the perfect fit for our exciting new opportunity with their alma mater."
The first Big Blue football broadcast on WDZ 1050AM ESPNDecatur will be the season opener at Greenville College on September 3 with kickoff at 1 p.m.  The Big Blue Hour will return for the 2016-17 year on Monday, August 1 at 5 p.m.
