Millikin Women's Soccer Gearing Up for Home Opener

  Millikin Women's Soccer Head Coach Kate McArthur heads into her third season with 19 returning letter winners including eight starters from 2015. McArthur's teams have seen improvement in each of her first two seasons and she is confident the Big Blue can better last season's 6-10-1 mark.
          Millikin returns its top two scorers from last season in senior Emily Sanders and sophomore Taylor Hartman. Sanders had four goals and three assists last year while Hartman contributed five goals and one assist.
          In addition to Sanders, Millikin returns six talented seniors all looking to make a major impact in their final season for the Big Blue. Kayla Lojas, Angela Pulice Taylor Copp and Jessica Taul all return after making significant contributions over the last three seasons. Seniors Katie Bartuch and Jenna Eaker return to action after injuries limited their junior campaigns. Both players were major contributors earlier in their careers and are looking to return to that high level of play.
          Juniors Meg Nowak and Courtney Olson and sophomores Kaitlyn Jardine and Rachel Patty will be counted on for important minutes this season.
          Junior Anna Benvenuto returns at goalkeeper after recording 120 saves with a 1.98 goals against average in 2015.
          Several freshmen will be looked upon to contribute this season including Lucy Koger, Rebecca Kovacs, Emily Ratchford and Raven Withaar. Freshman Kaitlyn Garza will be the backup at goalkeeper.
          Millikin opens the season at home on Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. against Franklin College. The Big Blue will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. against Greenville College at Frank M. Lindsay Field.
