Big Blue Tennis Teams Win Third Straight in South Carolina

The Millikin tennis teams continued its winning ways in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Playing at the Hilton Head Beach & Tennis Resort, the Big Blue men and women both defeated the Greenville Panthers by identical 8-1 scores.

The Big Blue men took two out of three doubles matches with Jacob Palley/Jacob Hamilton and Dane Pierantoni/Greg Schwoeppe earning wins. The Millikin men then swept the singles portion of the match. Palley, Hamilton, Connor Sacks, Emerick Fulton, Schwoeppe, and Logan Bennett all were victorious in singles action. Hamilton recovered from a set down to win 4-6, 6-0, 10-8 at number two singles.

The Millikin women followed the same script as the men, winning two out of three doubles matches. Twin sisters Kelly Ruane/Maggie Ruane and Morgan Bettner/Madeline Delano claimed wins at number one and two doubles respectively. The Big Blue women then won all six singles matches. Bettner, Molly Angell, Maggie Ruane, Melissa Donovan, Kelly Ruane, and Delano all notched victories for Millikin.

The Big Blue will return to the courts on Friday, March 17 for its final match in Hilton Head against Lynchburg College. First serve is set for 9 a.m. at Chaplin Park.
