Men's Tennis Opens with Loss

The Millikin men's tennis team opened up its 2018 seaon with a match against the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, the 38th ranked team in the nation, in Whitewater, Wisconsin on February 10.  The Warhawks won the match 9-0.

Colin Sandgren and Jacob Palley played a tough match at one doubles. After keeping the set close, they were able to pull ahead 7-6 before falling in the end 9-7.

In singles play, Palley and Sandgren battled it out again. At one singles, Palley quickly won the first set 6-3.  He was unable to keep the momentum going into the second set, and dropped the set 6-1.  In the third set super tiebreaker, Palley battled but ultimately fell 14-12.

Colin Sandgren was the last man on court for the Big Blue. He won his first set 6-4 and then dropped the second set 6-4. Sandgren fought off two match points in the super breaker but could not fight off a third, and lost the tiebreaker 10-8.

The Big Blue return to the court tomorrow at noon against the Illinois Institute of Technology at the XS Tennis Village in Chicago.
